Hello parents and guardians!

 

My name is Valerie Tucker – welcome to St. Joseph’s RE program! If you are new, we are so glad you are joining us. For our returning kids – welcome back! Let’s have a great year together.

As we prepare to start the RE year in September, I want to share what each of the documents are and what will be coming in the near future.

 

If your child(ren) are planning to be in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd this year (K-1st grade), they will meet on Sundays from 830-1030am. For more information, please contact me at vtucker@StJoePhx.org. Please still fill out and return the required forms listed below for your child(ren). Thank you!

 

Please click here to see the RE Calendar for the schedule for the year. Drop off will be in the Church, while pick-up will be at your child(ren)’s rooms (room assignments will be announced as we get closer). Reconciliation prep students will have a mandatory retreat, and First Holy Communion/Confirmation prep students will have a mandatory retreat, Mass rehearsal, and Confirmation Mass. Those to be baptized/received into the Church may have other requirements and will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Retreats will most likely take place on a Saturday in the Spring Semester around April or May. Dates/events are subject to change, but you will be notified of any changes in advance.

 

If you are interested in volunteering for RE, please click here for the interest form. Fill it out, return it, and I will get back to you soon – thank you so much! If you are open to it but hesitant, feel free to fill out the form anyway – the form just shows your interest and openness, and you are free to decide not to volunteer even after filling it out.

To make a payment, please see the RE open house table after the Sunday morning or Saturday evening Masses on August 30/31, stop by the parish office, utilize the online payment link below, or contact me at vtucker@StJoePhx.org. Please click here for the photo release form – photo release is not mandatory, but if you choose to opt out, please return the form with your decision to opt out written on the back and signed by you. Please click here for the food in class permission slip. This gives us permission to give your child(ren) food/snacks in case we have them during RE. You can opt out on it, but please ensure to list any allergies, their severity, and who has the allergy (if multiple children) regardless of whether you opt out. The final form (click here) is an optional payment plan/scholarship application form. If you are seeking a payment plan/scholarship, please fill this out and return with your blue folder.

 

As I am getting settled in, I will continue to prep for the year and have more info regarding our commitment to you, and you to RE. Please know we will offer mandatory parent formation at the same time as Tuesday RE. For the Fall Semester, there will be two sessions of parent formation, with 5 meeting times in each session. You are required to attend one of these sessions. Spring Semester parent formation will be announced at a later date. Please plan to stay for the RE Kickoff on September 9th for a parent orientation and meet/greet!
