Kindergarten-6th Grade Faith Formation

St. Joseph’s Kindergarten-6th Grade Faith Formation program seeks to aid parents in forming their children in the Catholic Faith, so that they may know, love, and live the Truth found in Jesus Christ.  In a document on the family written by Pope John Paul II, our late beloved Pontiff wrote, “Parents must be acknowledged as the first and foremost educators of their children…the right and duty of parents to give education is essential… incapable of being entirely delegated to others” (Familiaris Consortio, 36).”  Recognizing that our parents have the most significant role in establishing the foundation of a child’s spiritual development, our mission is to assist and support our parent’s efforts in their child’s faith formation at home, in the classroom and in the parish.

Using the Faith and Life Series by Ignatius Press, we offer our Kindergarten-6th grade classes on Sundays 9:15–10:15am and Tuesdays from 5:00-6:00pm.  In addition, we offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word every Sunday at our 8:30am Mass.

Have you ever thought about teaching the Faith but just didn’t feel prepared?

We are now on the lookout for faithful men and women who would like to serve God and His Church by being on the 2011-12 Faith Formation Team.  Specifically, we are looking for Catechists, Catechist Aide’s, Liturgy of the Word Catechists and those willing to join our Prayer Ministry.  St. Joseph’s will be offering the newest Catechist Training program from the Diocese of Phoenix so that you will feel comfortable going into a classroom.  Not only will you be serving God, but you will also be learning more about the Faith yourself!  If you feel that God is calling you to serve in any of these areas, please contact Andrew Logan in the Parish Office.
