The Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary is the largest apostolic organization of lay people in the Catholic Church, with active members in almost every country in the world, totaling more than 3 million.

The organization was created in Dublin, Ireland, in 1921. The Legion of Mary became active in the United States in 1931. Members do apostolic work to help those in need.

St. Joseph Catholic Church’s Legionnaires meet weekly at Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm in Joseph House.

Works of the Legion of Mary include:

• parishioner visitation
• prison ministry
• visitation of the sick or aged
